    Correlations in complex networks under attack

    For any initial correlated network after any kind of attack where either nodes or edges are removed, we obtain general expressions for the degree-degree probability matrix and degree distribution. We show that the proposed analytical approach predicts the correct topological changes after the attack by comparing the evolution of the assortativity coefficient for different attack strategies and intensities in theory and simulations. We find that it is possible to turn an initial assortative network into a disassortative one, and vice versa, by fine-tuning removal of either nodes or edges. For an initial uncorrelated network, on the other hand, we discover that only a targeted edge-removal attack can induce such correlations

    Secure Authentication Scheme for the Internet of Things

    The Internet of Things (IoT) is based on an extensive and wide range of interconnected heterogeneous units’ general applications, including healthcare systems, environmental monitoring, household automation, and business automation. This work presents an approach variant of the elliptic curve; The cryptography approach is implemented to provide more security with fewer key sizes and with protocol enhancements to perform an efficient authentication process. In the process of authenticating the device, we use the Electronic Product Code (EPC) as a key to authentication, where the overhead of giving input is removed. Mention the methods followed to meet all your performance metrics (minimum execution time; low energy consumption, and qualitative comparison). This proposed scheme (i.e., the energy consumption of 0.27 mJ, the reduction in end delay of 0.058 sec., the reduction in the computation cost, and being more resistant to attack) is compared with other recent authentication protocols. The proposed system creates a secure network to lessen the damage if there is an attack in the IoT environment. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed scheme has a lower energy consumption and a more resistant authentication scheme, and we observe a trade-off between security and the lightweight factor

    Purpose of Study: In this age where population and industrialization have extended exponentially, contamination is a noteworthy emergency looked by humanity and essential measures ought to be taken to control it quickly. High levels of pollutants in the atmosphere, which are responsible for causing pollution that causes human heart problems, breathing and other all health problems to our society. This paper focused to provide a substantial solution to pollution in our society as a result of which major social, personal health and environmental pollution problems can be monitored and by taking effective steps they can be reduced. Methodology: The proposed framework is an IOT unit for handling these issues, including powerful use of the different sensor, to capture the estimations of various sorts of toxins in the earth and show insights on a site which can be gotten to by all clients for nothing. The research data is collected from the different sensors installed at different locations in our surroundings. After collecting data from sensors, a comparative study of data is carried out with the standards provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Results: The proposed system helps to reduce the pollution in our environment and as a result of which pollution can be reduced by taking major steps towards it. Application/Implications: The framework we are proposing is a propelled answer for observing the ecological contamination at a specific spot and make data available for each person.     CEACAM6 is upregulated by <i>Helicobacter pylori</i> CagA and is a biomarker for early gastric cancer

    Early detection of gastric cancers saves lives, but remains a diagnostic challenge. In this study, we aimed to identify cell-surface biomarkers of early gastric cancer. We hypothesized that a subset of plasma membrane proteins induced by the Helicobacter pylori oncoprotein CagA will be retained in early gastric cancers through non-oncogene addiction. An inducible system for expression of CagA was used to identify differentially upregulated membrane protein transcripts in vitro. The top hits were then analyzed in gene expression datasets comparing transcriptome of gastric cancer with normal tissue, to focus on markers retained in cancer. Among the transcripts enriched upon CagA induction in vitro, a significant elevation of CEACAM6 was noted in gene expression datasets of gastric cancer. We used quantitative digital immunohistochemistry to measure CEACAM6 protein levels in tissue microarrays of gastric cancer. We demonstrate an increase in CEACAM6 in early gastric cancers, when compared to matched normal tissue, with an AUC of 0.83 for diagnostic validity. Finally, we show that a fluorescently conjugated CEACAM6 antibody binds avidly to freshly resected gastric cancer xenograft samples and can be detected by endoscopy in real time. Together, these results suggest that CEACAM6 upregulation is a cell surface response to H. pylori CagA, and is retained in early gastric cancers. They highlight a novel link between CEACAM6 expression and CagA in gastric cancer, and suggest CEACAM6 to be a promising biomarker to aid with the fluorescent endoscopic diagnosis of early neoplastic lesions in the stomach

The majority of terrestrial species are now only found in forests because their former habitats have been destroyed. 514 natural sanctuaries, 99 national parks (including 18 biosphere reserves), and several holy groves are all part of the extensive network of protected places. Forest degradation and biodiversity loss persist due to increasing human population needs, shifting land uses, and the introduction of invasive alien species, despite a supportive forest policy and a robust regulatory framework. Individuals should be encouraged to take part in large-scale biodiversity conservation restoration efforts, and the degree and rate of biodiversity loss should be monitored continuously

In this paper, we are proposing a tool which is usingone of these capabilities of the mobile device which is theaccelerometer sensors. The mobile having accelerometersensors fitted on the head of the quadriplegic will be usedto track the head gestures made. Paralyzed people arethose people whose body movements are restricted due toinjury of brain or some other malfunction of parts of brainor the spinal cord. The tool will capture the gesture andinterpret it or recognize the gesture and perform therequired action i.e. mapped on to the operations of thecomputer in front of the subject. The tool thus aids themobility-restricted person to use the computer andentertain himself/herself when alone at home. The finalpart of the paper describes the experimentation goals, thetotal process and preliminary results. Future workdirections are also indicated

    Perception and practice regarding infection control measures in Radiology department during pre-COVID and COVID times—A survey among radiologists and a review of current concepts and literature

    Aim: In this study, we aim to evaluate the perception and practice of IPC measures by Radiologists during pre-COVID and present COVID times, while conducting a thorough review of current concepts and literature, to provide a standard operating procedure (SOP) for radiology operations. Methods: This study was conducted by Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Kasturba Medical College, MAHE, Mangalore. After obtaining approval from the institutional ethics committee, and other required permissions, the Google form questionnaire was sent to 350 Radiologists via email and text during the period of May 2020. Data was collected by time-based sampling in the period of fifteen days during the end of the total lockdown time. Results: 54% (n = 152) reported never attending a training session on (Infection Prevention & Control) IPC prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. The perception regarding IPC were found to be good among radiologists as majority of the respondents were correctly able to answer questions regarding IPC. 86% (n = 152) of the respondents believed that their knowledge on IPC has improved during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was revealed that majority of the respondents only started to practice appropriate contact and droplet / procedural precautions only after the COVID-19 outbreak. Conclusion: The present COVID-19 scenario coupled with the lack of knowledge and training regarding IPC amongst radiologists evident from the results of our survey, highlights the need for proper training and establishing standard operating procedures and best practices in IPC pertinent to modern radiology practic
